Insurance awareness is below par in Bangladesh. While the insurance penetration (both life and non-life, stood at 0.72 percent in 2015) is very low, the basic understanding is even lower. People in general do not realize the value of life insurance products mostly because lack of understanding. Even those who are under insurance coverage, are not fully aware what are they entitled to and the responsibilities on their part to maintain a policy. Despite the presence of 32 life insurance companies in the country, noone ever before took any significant measures to simplify basic concepts of insurance or raise awareness for the commoners.
Misir Guru believes that Bangladesh insurance industry will be clamoring for an information exchange platform to help them make the right purchase decisions. Misir Guru will also help customers become aware of the issues that affect their existing policies. Misir Guru publishes byte sized information about insurance in the format of text, images, info-graphics and comic strips in a very colloquial tone of Bangla language.
