BUILDING A GROWTH MINDSET AT METLIF

LumenLab’s Innovation Workshop & BootCamps

A core part of LumenLab’s mission is to build a growth mindset within the wider MetLife business, embedding a culture of innovation and experimentation.

 

We run a series of different programs and sessions to share our perspective on innovation with different audiences, functions and levels across our Asia businesses. Our core sessions are Innovation Workshops and BootCamps – one-day and multi-day sessions that take MetLife employees through the innovation journey and establish one common innovation language, process, and toolkit.

 

Our trainings are built around LumenLab’s Test & Learn Innovation Framework – a simple innovation process that crystallises how we work at LumenLab and leverages design thinking and Lean Startup methodologies. Each phase of our innovation process has its own set of tools to use, and is powered by key innovation behaviors. The content has been designed to equip MetLife associates with tools and behaviours that they can apply back to their daily roles and help them drive change.

 

We train a range of key innovation principles across our programs, for example:

  • Always starting with the customer and ‘falling in love with the problem you want to solve, not the solution
  • Looking beyond our own industry for inspiration and ideas, getting curious to take our thinking in new directions
  • Adopting a test & learn approach to recognise assumptions and design experiments to validate ideas quickly & cheaply
  • Understanding the innovation behaviors that are essential to think different in corporate life

 

Insurance as an industry needs to change and adapt, nowhere more so than in Asia where the pace of innovation and adoption is so fast. Our Innovation programs are one way we look to embed a new way of thinking in the business and drive new value for our customers.
